Title: Pilgrimage
Medium: Watercolor on paper
 Year: 2003

This watercolor was created through intuitive process—the artist allowed her hand to lead without predefined intention. What may appear as an abstract geometric composition reveals, upon reflection, the structure of one of the world's oldest and most visited pilgrimage sites: Mecca. At the center, a cube-like form evokes the Kaaba, around which millions of pilgrims circle each year.

The Kaaba is not solely a symbol of Islam. Its origins are traditionally traced to the prophet Abraham and his son Ismail, and it stood as a sacred sanctuary long before the rise of Islam. In pre-Islamic times, tribes gathered around it, and some walked unclothed in ritual purity, believing that nakedness was a form of cleansing.

A longer gaze into the picture might help us to turn inward, reflect on our life, and connect with higher principles—a Lord himself.
